Objective

Nottingham is a leading U.S. provider of unitized fund accounting and investment administration, delivering services to 100+ portfolios. The company, which had conducted no traditional marketing in its history, came to Kelly MarCom in search of a brand identity and launch strategy to introduce itself to the marketplace and secure new accounts. Though Nottingham had been in business for 20 years with a solid reputation, it was essentially forming a brand from scratch.

Approach

Following Kelly MarCom’s market research and brand discovery process, we developed a sophisticated and modern brand architecture with collateral materials to accurately represent the personality of the current company. We created a new logo and tagline, relevant to the audiences of today, rather than those of 20 years ago. We built a website to provide visitors helpful insight into the personality and culture of the company, and put in place a targeted media relations strategy to increase brand awareness in Nottingham’s niche segment.

Result

A larger investment firm acquired the independently owned company, due in part to the new stronger brand position and corporate identity which helped persuade buyers that the brand was strong enough for the subsidiary to successfully retain its own name and marketing initiatives. Today, Nottingham is one of the largest independently-owned unitized accounting providers in the United States, administering at present $21 billion in assets and 150 funds.
