The Carolina Designer Craftsmen Guild — Social Media

Social Media Campaign

The Carolina Designer Craftsmen Guild is a nonprofit organization supporting the professional pursuit of outstanding design and craftsmanship.

Objective

The Carolina Designer Craftsmen Guild is a nonprofit organization supporting the professional pursuit of outstanding design and craftsmanship. To help the Guild promote its 40th Annual Fine Craft + Design Show on Thanksgiving weekend, Kelly MarCom was enlisted to provide marketing consultation to the organization incorporating social media into its communications efforts.

Approach

Kelly MarCom assisted the Guild in launching a Facebook fan page to use as a central point of communication, allowing the organization to keep interested parties up to date, interact with each other, and spotlight members’ works. (Members are encouraged to participate and upload images.) We added regular updates about the annual flagship event, keeping fans apprised of the latest developments.

The Guild gave free show passes to fans via Facebook during the weeks leading up to the show, and prominent bloggers gave show passes to the first “commenters” on their blog post the day the show began. Kelly MarCom directed the Guild to connect with fans during the show by posting a video of craft demonstrations taking place on the show floor, reporting special offers and unveiling the winning MasterWorks artists live from the event.

Result

The establishment of the Guild’s social media presence is allowing the organization to connect with members across the Southeast and to communicate event information to the public. These channels also allow the Guild to target a younger (previously elusive) audience. Since the launch of the social media presence, the Guild has seen exponential growth of its fan base. We will continue to build this audience by providing interesting, relevant content to users.
